Dance Master Class From New York To Chiswick!!
There was no rest for the Chiswick students this half term as they took
part in a Dance Masterclass Day taught by leading professionals from the
London dance scene.
Sami Russell, dancer with Shobanna Jeyessingh, Mapdance and Identiti.co
taught an Intro to Contemporary workshop in the morning, taking us through
the basics of Graham technique and travelling sequences along with a unique
warm up and massage technique to energise our muscles and raise awareness
of safe practise and caring for your body.
The afternoon involved a Hip Hop Beginnes Workshop with Farouk Bhimji.
Farouk's credits involve Alexandra Burke, Whitney Houston, Jay Sean,
Madonna, Black Eyed Peas and Leona Lewis.
He is also the founder of Dance Cast, the leading casting network for
performers in London and has revolutionised the way in which dancers find
and more importantly get work in London!
Since training at The Broadway Centre in New York, Farouk has become a
master of hip hop techniques and he took students through the basics of hip
hop styles including locking, popping, freezing, gliding and rocking to
name but a few!
It was an exhausting day but a great opportunity for students to
experience new styles and broaden their dance skills.
Farouk will be back to assist Amelia in auditioning the students for the
new PSSA PRO Dance Troupe on Monday 9th November!
