Grease Auditions In Lewes

The Lewes branch of Pop School and Stage Academy (PSSA) Youth Theatre Group is holding auditions throughout January & February for talented, enthusiastic children and knock-out young adults from 7 to 18 yrs to star in Grease, the Musical. So wannabe Sandys, Dannys, Rizzos and Frenchies keen to be part of a theatre group had better shape up...

Stars of tomorrow wanting to try out for a speaking or singing role should advise PSSA throughout audition preparation, and will be helped to prepare for their chosen character. A 16 bar dance routine will be taught and applicants are also welcome to demonstrate other skills to give the panel a better idea of their personality; this could include anything from telling a joke, baton-twirling, gymnastics or guitar playing. No experience is necessary and auditions are always informal and fun, ensuring no one feels intimidated. Audition preparation begins end of January, but auditions will continue into February.

There will be 2 casts, a 7 - 13 year old cast and a 14+ year old cast. We feel it is necessary for the younger cast members to have the opportunity of achieving a principle role,  and this also benefits the older cast members,  as they can develop their skills in a more age appropriate environment.

A series of rehearsals follow before the curtain goes up on Grease, the Musical at The Hub Theatre in Haywards Heath in July 2014. BAM agency will also be attending the show, talent spotting for their agency which has already seen children from the PSSA cast in roles in West End, and in film and TV.

PSSA extends its youth theatre group to Lewes in 2014. Run by a glittering, talented team of professionals, drawing on their impressive collective experience in the performing arts, they train children and young adults of all abilities, whether they show a natural aptitude for entertainment and instinctive leaning towards the limelight or whether they need gently drawing out of their shell.  Beyond sheer fun, benefits to students include the development of imagination, building self-confidence and self-awareness in a safe, controlled environment. They will make friends, experience making something happen as a Company and ultimately, if they find that the swish of the curtain and rapturous applause is for them, they may even embark on a dazzling stage and screen career, becoming the next Newton-John...

Audition preparation will start on Thursday 30th January 2014 4.30 - 7pm at Equilibrium studios, Lewes.
