About PSSA Brighton

In 2001 when myself, and my sister Laura founded The Pop School and Stage Academy in Chiswick, we had already spent years creating a formula for our younger members to be introduced to the performing arts. Our aim was to find a unique way of incorporating all the elements of dance drama singing and music and put them into one exciting and motivating session. By injecting lots of fun and keeping it dynamic we were able to keep their attention and their enthusiasm.. – it worked! These became our long awaited for original Little Luvvies.

Over the years we have seen many different students come through our doors, a number of which have gone on to follow their dreams in drama schools in London and New York. However, our schools are not just the first step into show business, far from it, our approach and how we structure our classes aim to help children grow in all aspects of their lives. We want to give them the encouragement and confidence to 'have a go'. Take Nathan for example, he came to Little Luvvies as a 6 year old barely able to look us in the eye he had so little confidence. One year later he was singing his first solo in front of his classmates to whoops of delight and encouragement. He'd become a real joker in the pack and now aged 15 is taking lead roles in our Chiswick school and loving every minute of it!

The highlight of the year for us, and the parents, is our annual performance. This is great fun to watch and always warms everyone's hearts. In addition, working towards a performance gives them a great focus throughout the year. In the past we have created specially adapted Little Luvvies friendly versions of shows such as Bugsy Malone, High School Musical, Grease and Hairspray. Performing in these shows really gives our Little Luvvies time to shine ... the kids are the stars of the show there is always huge excitement when they get their costumes on and the lights hit the stage, it's a treat not to be missed !

This is Little Luvvies, and this is what we have brought to Brighton. My husband, Ian, and myself moved to Brighton last summer 2010 with our two little girls. Once we had settled ourselves we realised that a Little Luvvies school would be a great addition to such an exciting city with a great vibe. Our girls cant wait to start ... there's a lot of fun to be had as a Little Luvvie's cast member!
